Medical Terminology for Insurance Claims
There is a vast array of private
medical insurance schemes in existence. Inevitably, people working
in the insurance profession are brought into day to day contact with
medical terminology and they need to have an understanding and
working knowledge of medical terms, phrases and abbreviations used,
and particularly the implications for insurance claims. • Claims Handlers are required to deal with medical reports and letters from a variety of medical specialists. They are also required to understand the nature and purpose of the various treatments for which the claims are made. • Supporting the Claims Handlers are the team leaders and managers, who are expected to be a point of referral for the more complicated or less frequent terms.
The provision of specialist targeted "in house" training creates a confidential atmosphere, allowing delegates the freedom to discuss problems of a sensitive or commercial nature, that they may not feel comfortable raising outside the confines of the business. |
