Our courses
MedicoLogic specialise in the design and delivery of medical terminology
training courses to professionals outside of the NHS. As such, new training
courses are frequently developed to meet the unique needs of clients and their
staff.
Courses are highly practical and often centre around a course workbook, which
delegates complete as the course progresses, and a quick reference medical
prefix and suffix booklet, which delegates will learn how to use, and which they
will be able to take away for use back at their work place.
A common approach is to provide a series of modules within a course, which
firstly explains some of the of secrets in decoding works, by looking at the
prefixes and suffixes, and then goes on to explain how this relates to different
medical specialisations such as:
Ear, nose and throat
Respiratory System
Cardiovascular
Digestive System
Skeletal
Reproductive System
Urology
Dermatology
General medicine/ surgery
Within each module the common medical terms and abbreviations are explained, and
the module is structured in a such a way as to draw out such areas as:
How the terms and abbreviations appear in relation to medical claims, evidence
or reports.
Basic anatomy and the workings of the body.
Medical signs & symptoms associated with the body system.
Associated investigations and treatments.
Medical conditions commonly referred to within the clients organisation
Based on this, each module contains at least one case study to enable delegates
to relate the course content back to their work place activities. Typically such
case studies could take the form of sample medical letters, reports or medical
evidence, which delegates would be provided as a handout.
Visual illustration during the course contents will be provided through
PowerPoint slides, with the options, where appropriate, of using posters and a
medical dummy to illustrate internal organs within the human body.
