Quality Outcome Framework, Disease Areas and Drugs

MedicoLogic also deliver courses relating to some of the most common chronic diseases areas e.g. asthma, diabetes, where courses focus on specific disease areas, so that staff benefit from specific in depth courses on common chronic diseases areas and their associated drugs. Each disease area forms a module which is framed against key criteria such as:

• How the terms and abbreviations appear in relation to medical reports.
• Basic anatomy and the workings of the body.
• Medical signs & symptoms associated with the body system.
• Associated investigations and treatments.
• Medical conditions commonly referred to within the client’s organisation
• Associated drugs

These courses relate very closely to the UK Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) which is the annual reward and incentive programme detailing GP practice achievement results. QOF is a voluntary process for all surgeries in England and was introduced as part of the GP contract in 2004. QOF awards surgeries achievement points for, amongst other things, managing some of the most common chronic diseases e.g. asthma, diabetes. By providing this world-leading intelligence on the spread of illnesses such as diabetes, heart conditions and cancers, GPs and other health professionals are better able to make improvements in managing these chronic diseases.
